Avant Homes granted planning for £28m 113-home development in Barnsley

Housebuilder Avant Homes is set to deliver 113 new homes in Birdwell, near Barnsley, after being granted planning permission for a £28m development.

Located on Hay Green Lane between Tankersley and Birdwell, the 9-acre site was acquired by Avant Homes in January this year.

Called Hay Green Park, the development will comprise a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes and feature 12 of Avant Homes’ house types.

Of the 113 homes, 10 per cent have been designated to affordable housing. Avant Homes has also committed to a community contribution of around £970,000 to support local primary and secondary education, a sustainable travel plan and open green space.

Work is set to commence on site in April, with the overall build programme estimated to take approximately two and a half years. The first homes should be ready for occupation by this November.

Avant Homes West Yorkshire managing director, Alastair Hart, said: “Hay Green Park follows the success of our recently sold-out St Paul’s Bank development in nearby Pilley.

“We are committed to delivering our exciting range of new homes in excellent locations across South Yorkshire, and our development will bring much-needed new family homes to the area. We look forward to starting work in Birdwell in April.”

Avant Homes West Yorkshire currently has eight live developments ranging from Wakefield to Waverley with many more due to start as the business continues to implement its growth plans.

The Wakefield-based business is part of the Avant Homes Group, one of the leading private developers of residential property in the UK.

In addition to West Yorkshire, Avant Homes has seven other regional businesses operating within Scotland, north east England, north west England, North Yorkshire, East Midlands, West Midlands and a Central office covering South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire areas.
