Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) is moving forward with plans to create “a modern and decarbonised airport” with recently filed accounts showing an improved financial performance as pandemic restrictions eased.
Recently filed accounts show turnover of £16.5m for the year ending 31 March 2022, up from £5.3m in 2020/21.
Alex Tong, Chief Financial Officer of LBA, said: “Due to the impact of the pandemic, the financial year ended 31st March 2022 is not truly representative of the current or future performance of the airport. After a challenging start to the financial year, we did deliver a steady recovery in passenger numbers and improved on FY21 performance.
What the results don’t show however is the intense focus on building the foundations to outperform once the pandemic recovery really started in March 2022. It is that hard work and dedication that is making LBA one of the fastest recovering airports in the country in the current financial year.
“Looking ahead, these results for the year ended 31st March 2022, combined with our continued recovery from the pandemic post year-end, give us the confidence to pursue plans to create a modern and decarbonised airport, including the redevelopment of LBA’s existing terminal, installation of new check-in technology and delivery of our 2030 Carbon Net Zero Roadmap.”
