Two sites have been identified which could house a new railway station in Leicestershire.
Plans are afoot to reinstate a once abandoned regional railway which aims to create a new station at Coalville – this would sit on the restored Ivanhoe Line between Leicester and Burton.
The station could be built overlooking Belvoir Shopping Centre and the Coalville Market Hall Building, or at Wolsey Road on a Network Rail site.
The project is in the hands of Government as they mull over the business case submitted to revive the line – but North West Leicestershire District Council is fully backing the lines restoration.
