Vistry Group acquires key Devon city location for 650 new homes

Vistry Group has acquired land in Exeter to build more than 650 homes – adding to the housebuilder’s presence on the edge of the city centre.

Vistry South West – which builds Bovis Homes and Linden Homes properties – is set to start work on the north side of the Alphington location in the spring. Home buyers are due to start moving in next year.

The purchase adds to the south side development, Haldon Reach, of 680 homes currently being sold by Vistry in joint venture with housing association LiveWest.

Matthew Charnock, Vistry strategic development director, said: “We’re delighted to purchase this well sought-after land in Alphington on the edge of Exeter city centre, to add to Haldon Reach being built through our Vistry Partnerships arm. This location will be a flagship development for Vistry South West and bring much-needed affordable homes to Exeter.

“This Alphington acquisition adds to our strong Vistry presence in the area and we look forward to a vibrant community with properties from our latest Bovis Homes and Linden Homes collections. The location is also a tribute to our hardworking colleagues in both the housebuilding and partnerships arms of the business.”

Haldon Reach, which includes a show home and sales centre, will have a mixture of open market, shared ownership and affordable rent homes. Plus, a brand-new school with playing fields.

Peter Sadler, managing director for Vistry Partnerships South West, said: “We are delighted to be working with our long-standing partners, LiveWest on this exciting new housing development in Exeter.”

LiveWest and Vistry Partnerships have joined forces on a number of developments, which will see more than 2,000 homes built across the South West.
